ACRES WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTRE

PROJECT METHODS

Providing a safe haven for rescued wild animals
"The Animals of the planet are in desperate peril and they are fully aware of this. No less than human beings are doing in all parts of the world, they are seeking sanctuary." - Alice Walker

The AWRC will be the first wildlife rescue centre in Singapore devoted solely to providing a home for animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. The rescue centre will provide a safe haven for at least 400 animals (including primates, reptiles, marsupials, small carnivores and small ungulates) on both a permanent and temporary basis.

The AWRC will maintain the highest standards to provide optimal welfare conditions for the animals. All enclosures, procedures and protocols will adhere to and, where possible, exceed international standards.

ACRES will make every effort to repatriate animals back to their native countries. However, in many cases this is not feasible due to uncertainties of the exact origin of the animal and a lack of a suitable home being available in the country of origin. Therefore, the AWRC will provide permanent home for animals who cannot be repatriated for such reasons, or for animals who are deemed by the AWRC veterinarian to no longer be fit for relocation or transportation due to health concerns.

In cases where an animal can be repatriated, the AWRC will provide a temporary home for them. The whole process of organising a repatriation of an animal can take a considerable amount of time, usually several months or even years.

Help us make a difference in the lives of the animals.

As animals cannot speak up for themselves, it is up to humans to give them a voice, speak up their behalf and end their abuse.
